Well we are into our second month of 2010 baseball and I’m expecting to see
some May Showers. No not rain – at least I certainly hope not rain.
I’m talking bout some homerun showers! Our boys have settled into their
groove and I’m hoping for some deep bombs at the Ballpark! I’ve really
had fun watching our new Rangers team members. Vladdy is hilarious and
man can that guy hit! It was nice to see some of our young boys sent up
back in April – Arias did a great job for us at second base!
As for me, I’ve been busy myself with appearances and games. I’ve had a
bunch of proposals during games already and I’m hoping for more throughout the
summer! I really enjoy helping couples get engaged. I think
it’s such a special event and it is an honor for me to be involved! I’ve
also had a great time at schools lately. I’ve gone to a bunch of
carnivals and TAKS pep rallies and I think the kids all really enjoyed my
visits! This month I’m continuing my school tour – I’ve got a couple more
TAKS rallies, a birthday party or two and a special mascot party with some
baseball buddies of mine! Mascot parties are always a blast. I
mean, I love working Ranger games here at the Ballpark in Arlington but when
you get 3 or more mascots together the possibilities of magic are
unlimited!!! Okay I just made that up but it sounded good!
Oh I almost forgot – don’t forget to keep a look out for me and my fellow Texas
Rangers peeps. We will be out in the community working with Chevy to sign
kids up for our special Sunday promotion – “Kids Take the Field.” We’ll
be out all over the metroplex at events signing up kids ages 5 – 13 for a
chance to take the field and meet a player at a Sunday game. It’s a
really cool opportunity so make sure to say hi if you see us!
Okay, it’s about time for an appearance. I gotta get focused and get my
game face on! Plus I need to style my mane! Until next time – GO
Rangers Captain #72
Rangers Captain Elvis Weekend
Well, we just got done with our big Elvis weekend at
Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. We gave
away Elvis Andrus bobbleheads and jerseys, plus we had a big Friday fireworks
show set to Elvis Presley music. And
Friday’s best moment came just before the fireworks, when Elvis won the game
with a walkoff hit. That’s the kind of
stuff us die-hard Rangers supporters live for.
We also had Elvis Presley impersonators who rode
miniature motorcycles, and some fans dressed as Elvis, too. Now some of you kids and colts may be asking
“who is this Elvis Presley guy?” He has
the same name as my favorite shortstop.
Let me put it this way, for you young foals : Elvis Presley was the
Secretariat of rock and roll music.
He had a ton of number one hits and also became a movie
star. At one time, he might have been
the most famous human in the world . He
also served his country in the army during the 1950s. So even though Elvis died in the 1970s, a lot
of people still like his music and his personality and like to imitate him.
I personally chose to wear a costume like the ones he
wore in his later years, plus the sideburns for which he was known. I think more horses should wear
sideburns. They go well with a mane.
So my next project is to get Hollywood interested in a remake
of the Elvis movie “Blue Hawaii” with an all-equine cast. I would play Elvis’ part, of course. And get a free trip to Hawaii.
Well I have been a bad horse. Yes sirrrreee – I have failed to provide my fans with a consistent blog and I am truly sorry. But its one of my horsey New Year Resolutions.
So what’s new you may ask??? Well let’s see…..First of all, we had our 2010 Texas Rangers Fan Fest a few weeks ago and it was COOLLLDDD. I was very glad that I hadn’t had my spring mane-cut yet. I felt bad for all the fans that supported us cause they had to be cold. But it was a great event. Lots of players autographing stuff for fans, awesome bounce houses for the kids, great interviews with our staff! Even with the cold weather I’d say it was a success!
Last weekend I spent 3 days out driving around with my buddy delivering special Valentine’s Day packages to people….IN THE SNOW. Yep, we had a crazy snowstorm that week….I know snowstorm in Texas??? Somehow we ended up having 12.5 inches of snow in 24 hours. It was prettttty cool! Of course that also meant that my schedule was all confounded due to schools closing and people being unable to get out of their driveways. But it worked out fine and everyone was excited with the coolest horse in Texas showed up with flowers and candy (or a t-shirt and hat for the gentleman).
Right now I am helping my friends in the office promote our amazingly incredible awesome great stupendous Jr Rangers Club. Get this – all my fans that are under age of 13 can become Jr Rangers. Being a Jr Rangers gets you all types of cool Rangers gear like a specialty drawstring bag, an awesome Texas Rangers wall banner, free tickets to games, and special Jr Rangers only events. Make sure to check it out at the Jr Rangers Club.
Aight until next time! Remember, our team’s at Spring Training so we should be too…..training to cheer!!!
Put another sweep in the books for the Rangers. I got to go down to Houston this past weekend and visit my good friend, Junction Jack (the official mascot of the Houston Astros). I drove down Friday night and got to Houston just in time to catch the last few innings of the game. What a finish!!! I was sitting right in the section where Nelson Cruz’s winning home run landed and it was sooooo great to see my team win it in the 10th!
Believe it or not, I actually got to take a good friend of mine, Alan, down to Houston with me. Alan works with our media department and so we took a bunch of cameras and video cameras down to do some filming of my shenanigans. It was soooo much fun! Alan followed me around the stadium on Saturday and Sunday during the games as I messed around wtih Houston fans, high fived my fellow Rangers fans, and scared unsuspecting victims!! We also got some great footage of my exploits out and about on the streets of Houston.
Apparantly Alan also taped a special “A Day in the Life of Rangers Captain” segment. I’m not sure what that is all about but it should be available for viewing pretty soon. I certainly hope its not too embarrassing!
It really was a great weekend. We had fun video taping everything AND our boys took care of them Astros three days in a row!! Especially Brandon McCarthy’s beautiful game on Sunday!
Of course this coming weekend should be even better! First off there is the double header against the A’s on Friday with our famous Big Bang Friday Fireworks. Then the fun gets better on Saturday when I’ve got not 1, not 2, not 3 but 5 MLB mascot buddies visiting the ballpark. We start off at 1:30 for all of our special Jr Rangers with a special “Meet a Ranger” event here at the ballpark. Chris Davis will be speaking to our Jr Rangers Club members from 1:30 to 2ish and then me and my fellow mascots will be signing autographs for all the Jr Rangers. I’ll have TC from the Twins, Fredbird from Cardinals, Mariner Moose from the
Mariners, Screech from the Nationals, and Junction Jack from the Astros all visiting that day so its gonna be fun. We will all be at the game Saturday night running around stadium doing what us mascot do: causing tons of fun and making people laugh!
On Sunday, the fun continues with our Photo Day. The first 5000 fans with a camera will get to walk along the warning track and take pictures of their favorite players. Then after the game we have Kids Run the Bases! Of course our Jr Rangers get first dibs on running the bases so make sure to sign you kids ages 13 and under up at one of the many kiosks here at the ballpark or online!
Well I’ve got get everything ready for my fellow mascots so I’m off to do my thing! Hope to see everyone here at the Ballpark in Arlington this weekend!
Check out these fun videos from my trip to houston:

So does anyone know what is better than a brand new bale of hay and a nice long nap in the shade???? A DOUBLE SWEEP!!!!
That’s right, my boys here in Texas swept the Angels right after sweeping the Mariners at home. Not only did we sweep two major rivals in the AL West back to back, but we also extended our win streak to 7 games. That’s the first time good ole’ Manager Washington’s had a 7 game win streak since he started steering the team! Boy oh boy what a great week!
I had a busy week myself. We had a very important media day to jump start our special Fitness program that we take to schools. MCA (the Medical Center of Arlington hospital) is a vital sponsor for this program and we had our media press conference at their hospital on Thursday along with about 30 kids. It was a lot of fun – we get to talk to kids about proper nutrition, daily exercise, and how to stay heathly. I get to participate in games with the kids like charades and teach them how to do the Wave!!
I also had an event to attend in Aledo, Texas but it ended up raining all morning on Saturday so they cancelled my event. Although it was disappointing to miss visit the ballpark in Aledo – I certainly enjoyed sleeping in that morning especially since we had a game in the afternoon.
I’m really looking forward to our next homestand. We are playing those baddies from NY – the Yankees. I hope we can take 2 out of 3 from them!! Following those three games, I’m having some fellow mascot buddies join me here for our game on May 30th. ILet’s see…the Mariner Moose, Fredbird from St. Louis, Screech from the Nationals, TC from the Twins, and of course my buddy Junction Jack from Houston – they will all be here to party it up with me during the game on Saturday! I had a great time last year with my mascot friends and this year should be even better!!
Be sure to come see me at all my upcoming RaceTrac appearances. I’ll be in Azle, TX on Thursday May 21st and then I’ll be in Garland, TX on Thursday May 28th!
Until next time – from your favorite bloggin horse!!!
First off, I’m sorry I missed updating my blog last week. I was recuperating from our first homestand and took some time to just frolic in the pastures out west. It was a good time but I’m back and so is the Team and we are hungry for some wins!!
Its going to be a busy week this week with 6 straight games but the fun part is that on Sunday, our game will be an ESPN aired game!!! Whoohooo – Imma gonna be on TV (if I can come up with something crazy to do that won’t get me in trouble haha). We are playing against a whole bunch of leftys this week as well so that should make the games interesting!
Lets see, Wednesday night is of course my favorite day to have baseball – $1 hotdog nite. On Friday, we’ve got our Big Bang fireworks. On Saturday, an awesome give-a-way….I hope I get one!! Then on Sunday, a 7:05 PM start time against the White Sox.
As for my schedule, I’ll be visiting our Home Schooled groups on Thursday at the Pavilion. Then on Friday, I’m participating in a Jog-a-thon as well as an early Cinco de Mayo event. Saturday is a busy day for me with a long appearance at the new Oakgrove Ballfield Complex in Grapevine – be sure to come out and visit with me from 10 am to 12 pm!
Oh and be sure to mark you calendars for next Thursday, May 7th. I’ll be at the RaceTrac gas station in Mansfield located at 3241 E. Broad St. from 6 pm until 7 pm. The Six Shooters and I will be signing up kids for the Kids Take the Field promotion for the May 16th game. So come on out and sign your kids up – who knows?? They may end up getting picked to take the field, meet a player, and get an autograph!
Until next week – GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RANGERS
Well Opening Week has come and gone and I can honestly say it was CRAZZZZZZY. Opening Day was especially insane and I was tired all day because I had to be up at 4:30 AM to be on the morning news stations. It was a lot of fun but tiring. I really enjoyed messing with the news anchors – they are so good at ignoring distractions and moving along. I couldn’t get them to mess up one time….phooey. I was on the news like 60 times….oh okay more like 10 but still it was awesome.
Our Opening Day Ceremonies were amazing. We had the same band that played the National Anthem from Iraq last year here at the ballpark this year! They were very good! We had an awesome flyover, a Medal of Honor recipient, and a Navy Seal. We also had Former President George Bush throw out the first pitch….and I got to shake his hand!!!! Whooooohoooo that was really cool!
Of course the best part of Opening Day was our dismantling of last year’s Cy Young recipient. What a great way to start the season! We went on to sweep the Indians for our first 3 – 0 start since 1996. Of course, our week ended on a down note with our struggle against Detroit but you know what? That simply makes us even hungrier to win games this week!
This week we are playing the Orioles and the Royals. Two teams that have started the season well so it will be a week full of good games. I’ll be out every night cheering on my boys in red and blue so be sure to come and see me! Don’t forget that Wednesday night’s game is an Autograph Wednesday and $1 hot dog night. I can’t wait – I loooooove me some ballpark hotdogs yum yum!
On Saturday, April 18th, we will be having a 5k Breathe Walk for the American Lung Association. I’ll be visiting all the participants before the walk here at the ballpark so come on out and support healthy lungs!
